As president of Elite Financial Group in Newport Beach, California, George Argyros Jr. focuses on insurance investments. George Argyros Jr. also supports community efforts such as the Orangewood Foundation’s assistance to youth currently or formerly in foster homes.
To prepare youth for independence, Orangewood sponsors life skills and educational programs to help children learn coping mechanisms typically passed down in stable families. In one year, the foundation held 60 workshops covering employment, quality relationships, and budgeting, as well as issues such as suicide prevention. Fifty-five youths found jobs and 22 enhanced their job readiness. At its Independent City event, the foundation helped young women and men look at some of the decisions they will have to make as adults.
